COUNTRY MARKET: Newick Country Market will be open tomorrow, Friday, from 10am to 11am in the village hall. There is a great selection of locally grown vegetables available, plus home baked cakes, savoury items, fresh eggs, cheeses and charcuterie. Just make sure you arrive early as certain items sell out very quickly. You can also enjoy a cuppa.
BOWLS: The bowls club will be playing tomorrow, Saturday, against Burgess Hill away and on Sunday it’s the finals day. This is not completed then it will finish on Bank Holiday Monday at 2pm.
CRICKET: Tomorrow, Saturday, the cricket club first XI will be playing at home against Heathfield Park, whilst the second XI will travel to Heathfield, the third XI are way to Heathefield and the fourth XI are plating on the Temple Grove Ground against Pett II. All of these games will commence at 1pm.
ANNUAL SHOW: Newick Horticultural Society will be holding their Annual Show, plus a Dog Show on the Village Green on Saturday September 5 at 2pm. This is a great village day for everyone to enjoy the lovely vegetables, flowers and many children’s entries. This year Tony Turk has written a booklet on the History of Newick Horticultural Society with the co-operation of the society, and intends to sell copies at the show. This booklet is lavishly illustrated, including previously unpublished drawings, newspaper articles, plus old and new photographs. There are plenty of bits of general information for anybody interested in the history of Newick. This is a great opportunity to show of your dogs, the classes they can enter are The Waggiest Tail or the Most Handsome Dog. Please telephone Kat for further information 724445.
CHURCH SERVICES: Sunday Services at St Mary’s Church are 8am Holy Communion and at 10.30am Morning Prayer.
HOLIDAY WEEKEND: I hope you all enjoy the last Bank Holiday weekend for 2015. I personally feel we need another day off around November 1 or maybe November 11.
