COUNTRY MARKET: Newick Country Market will be open today, Friday, in the village hall from 10am to 11am. There is always a good selection of locally grown vegetables, flowers, fresh eggs, as well as homemade cakes and savoury goodies. Make sure you arrive early as many items sell out very quickly, you may also enjoy natter and a cup of coffee.

CHURCH SERVICES: Services this Sunday at St Mary’s Church are 8am Holy Communion (BCP) followed by Church Worship Holy Communion at 10.30am. If you should require a lift to church please telephone in advance to 722582. On Sunday there will be a service in Memory of Loved Ones at 4.30pm, followed with tea in the Barn Centre.

SUPPER: Just to remind you of the Men’s Supper on today, Friday, in the Barn Centre 7.45pm for 8pm. The speaker is Rev Paul Mundy. Tickets £5. Telephone 01825 724378 to book you place.

CINEMA: The Cinema in the village hall will be showing the film A Royal Night Out, on Sunday. Doors open 7pm, film starts 7.30pm. Tickets £6 on the door or email This is a lovely film about VE Day in 1945, so why not book your tickets and enjoy your Sunday evening.

BONFIRE CELEBRATIONS: Newick Bonfire Celebration will be taking place on Saturday October 31. The day will commence with breakfast in the village hall from 9am to midday. There will be cakes, savouries plus bonfire tombola and other bonfire merchandise from the Plotter’s Trading Post. To book your breakfast please telephone 01825 723233 or 723372. The Fancy Dress Competition will take place in the village hall at 5pm. This event is well worth a visit.
