COUNTRY MARKET: Newick Country Market will be open today, Friday, from 10am to 11am. There is a good selection of Christmas goodies for sale, mince pies, sausage rolls, Christmas cakes and puddings plus Christmas cards. You can still purchase vegetables, fresh eggs, cakes and savoury items. You can still place an order for Christmas, this will have to be collected on Friday December 18, which is the last market day for this year.
CHURCH SERVICES: Services this weekend are Holy Communion at 8am followed at 10.30am with Family Service with Baptism. At 2.30pm the British Legion will be holding their Carol Service. Everyone most welcome.
CONCERT: On Saturday December 12 there will be a Singing Salon Concert in St Mary’s Church when Pippa Dames-Longworth will be bringing her group of 12 solo singers. They come from Russia, Portugal, Salisbury, London and Barcombe. They will entertain you with lots of favourite pieces including Carmen, Magic Flute, Mikado, Pirates of Penzance. Lovely music and lots of fun. Tickets at the door £6, concessions £4. Do try and support this group.
CHRISTMAS POST: 1st Newick Scouts are once again offering their Christmas card delivery service. Collection boxes are in the Post Office, Permier Store, Newick News and the Butchers. Final collection will be on Tuesday December 8 at 4pm. Please only post cards for delivery to the area bounded by A272 Church Road, Allington Road, Cricketfield and Alexander Mead. Do not include Lower Station Road, Jackies Lane or Cornwells Bank.
There is no set chare for his service, but donations to the Scouts fund will be appreciated. Please put your donation in an envelope and post with you cards. The Scouts and leaders work very hard making sure that all the cards are delivered, so please be generous when making your donation. Thank you.
