COUNTRY MARKET: Newick Country Market will be open today, Friday, in the village hall from 10am to 11am. You can purchase locally grown vegetables, homemade baked cakes and savoury items, fresh eggs and preserves. There are some lovely handmade greetings cards, knitted items, flowers and plants. You can also enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. You need to arrive early because many items sell out fast.

CHURCH SERVICES: Services this weekend at St. Mary’s Church are 8am Holy Communion, followed by Family Service at 9.30am. There is also an Evening Prayer Service at 6.30pm. If you require a lift to any of these services, please book in advance by telephoning 722582. The Annual Parochial Church Meeting will take place on Monday April 28 in the Barn Centre at 7.30pm.

AFTERNOON CLUB: The next Newick Afternoon Club meeting will be held on April 14 in the Community Centre at 2.30pm. The speakers being Tony Mayes and Marilyn Williscroft, their subject being Saint Helena, what is it where is it what happened there? AIR SOFT GAMES: Newick Bonfire Society are holding an Air Soft Games (similar to paint balling, but without paint) on Sunday April 14 from 9.30am at Cronk’s Wood (the top of Cinder Hill, Chailey). Entry £15 per player, this includes two 50 minute games, all equipment, training and light refreshments. Teams eight to 12 players. 12 to 16 year must be accompanied by adult players. HEALTHY WALKS: Dates for the April walks are: Wednesday April 13 and 27, the walk commences on The Green opposite the Bull Inn at 10.30am. The walk last for one hour. There is no charge and no need to book, just turn up and enjoy a country walk.
