COUNTRY MARKET: Newick Country Market will be open from 10am to 11am today, Friday, in the village hall.

CRICKET CLUB: Newick Cricket Club first game is on Sunday when Waldron will come to Newick for a home fixture at 1pm. The Under 12 fixture this week is away to Burgess Hill, the Under 14 first game is away to Keymer. Both of these junior fixtures will commence at 6pm.

CHURCH SERVICES: Services this Sunday at St Mary’s Church are Holy Communion at 8am followed by Family Communion at 9.30am. Everyone will be made most welcome. Just to reminder you that on Monday the Annual Parochial Church Meeting will take place in the Barn Centre at 7.30pm.

SPRING SHOW: Newick Horticultural Society held their Spring Show recently. Despite the bad weather there were many good entries as always well supported. The winners were as follows: The Caldwell Challenge Cup, exhibitor gaining highest number of points in the flower arrangement classes, Pat Pioli; Humphry Cup, best exhibit in show, David Faulke (painting of The Lady in Red); The Robertson Challenge Cup, highest number of points in the spring flowers classes, David Faulke; The Gilbert Styles Cup, exhibitor gaining the highest points in classes 25 to 28, Clive Maxwell; The Newick WI Cup, highest number of points in the cookery classes, Brenda Izzard; The Newick Horticultural Cup, child with the highest numbers of points, Megan Quick; The Bill and Enid Holmes Cup, best exhibit in the junior section, (a garden on a dinner plate), Emily Izzard. Well done everyone.

CINEMA: Just to remind you that the Cinema will be open this Sunday in the village hall from 7pm. The film being shown is Spectre. Please telephone 723392 for further details.

WI: Also the Newick Green WI meeting is on April 28 in the Community Centre at 7.45pm. The speaker is Andrew Glaysher his subject being Know Your Jewellery. Visitors welcome.
