PEACEHAVEN WI: We had a very busy meeting this month. After the usual business a report was given on the outing to the Household Cavalry in London, which was a really great day. After that our treasurer gave us details of her visit to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party. We were all worried about her as the weather was appalling. However, it seemed that apart from the wind, it stayed dry and turned out to be a wonderful experience. Before tea we were treated to three songs from the shows, sung by Peter Stanford, as a taster for the forthcoming matinee performance at the Meridian Centre.

Our speaker, Mr J Davey, was extremely entertaining about the English language. It was amazing to know that there are 7.4 billion people in the world, and we, in this country are the smallest number of English speaking people. As I said last month, ‘it sounds like fun’ – it was. The next meeting will be on July 1. (Joy Allen).
