PEACEHAVEN WI: The president welcomed members to our first meeting after the August break, which was well attended and happily the rain held off. Everyone enjoyed the holiday on the Rhine, and the outing to Borde Hill Gardens and the Bluebell Railway was a great success. Arrangements were finalised for the forthcoming trip to Norfolk at the end of September. After tea Andy Thomas gave a talk primarily on the Lewes Bonfire Night. He started by giving a most interesting and informative insight on the town of Lewes and the run-up, also to the reason for the rituals engulfed in the folklore. Pictures shown on the large screen were fascinating and gave us a closer view of the many effigies, more than we would have seen on the night. (Joy Allen).
