TECHNOLOGY: Computers are wonderful tools until they go wrong. Mine did that just before I was due to send in my copy for the Sussex Express last week. Most computer problems I can rectify but this one was beyond me. Thanks to Ian Edwards, I am now back on track.

PREDATORS: Today, a large grey heron was perched on our back garden wall. I love seeing all birds but not when they present a threat to my piglets which, being so small, are easy prey. Reluctantly, I had to shoo the heron away.

BUTTERFLIES: Entering this year’s butterfly count, I was dismayed not have to seen a single Peacock butterfly on the count day and only one all summer. Is it due to our strange weather?

SMILE OF THE DAY: What happens to frogs who park in the wrong place? They get towed.
