THE WEATHER: Summer seems to have left us. One week one is in shorts and the next, out comes the fleeces. Whatever happened to the Indian Summer?

AGISM: I would like to know how many people have found that they get treated very differently once they reach a certain age. This differs from being put on the scrapheap and being regarded as incapable of doing anything to being spoken to as if one were an imbecilic four year old. This latter condescending behaviour is prevelant on a number of BBC programmes where the public are involved.

VILLAGE EVENTS: Tomorrow, Saturday, Royal Oak Survivors 12.30pm. Friday September 25 film, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, 7pm.

SMILE OF THE DAY: What do you call birds who stick together? Velcrows.
