ARE WE IN INDIA?: After a glorious few days of proper June temperatures, we were suddenly transported into the monsoon season. Wonderful for crops but not so wonderful for the immediate growth of unwanted weeds. My pigs had totally cleared an area of ground and, horror of horrors, after the rain, it has become the National Collection of every weed under the sun. More Herculean tasks in store. Amazingly, amongst this plethora of weeds, a large number of tomato plants have emerged. Never planted there, presumably we must give thanks to the pigs.
VILLAGE EVENTS: The village now has a much needed repair to the road to the village hall. It should now be a less hazardous walk for everyone as all ruts and treacherous holes have been removed.
Big Barbecue and games Sunday. Meet at noon on the village Hoe if fine, in the village hall if not. Cost £10 adults, £5 children under 16 years. Price includes a free drink, salads and desserts. Tickets available from Sheila Redman 01273 514768.
SMILE FOR THE DAY: First palaeontologist: Wonderful news, a new dinosaur has been discovered in Canada. Curiously it only has one eye socket and therefore had only one eye. Second palaeontologist: That’s a first. What are they going to name it? First palaeontologist: Idontthinkitsaurus.
