WEATHER: Today the sun is shining, the sky is blue, has the awful weather left us at last? The only thing that the incessant rain has done, is to let the grass grow which provides continuous fodder for the sheep. It also has a downside in encouraging a multitude of weeds.
MEDICS: How refreshing it is of late, to have met medics who treat one like a fellow human being and not just a number. So often in the past, I have come across those with a god complex. I always think the body is mine and therefore up to me to make the decisions of what happens to it.
INTERNET: Google presents a problem and no matter how many times one tells them to correct it, nothing happens and it remains the same. If I go on to Google maps, or anyone is trying to locate me by that method, they will find that my house is missed and my barns are given as my house. Even more interesting is that the road running by my property, Lewes Road, is listed as Piddinghoe Road, a name by which it has never been called. There is no such road. We know not to take much of Wikipedia to be so, but one can only guess at the mass of material on the Internet which is totally unreliable.
THE GUYS WHO FAIL TO TURN UP: Nothing is more exasperating than the tradesman who fixes a date and time with you, for whom you wait all day, who fails to turn up, and hasn’t the courtesy to let you know they are not going to come after all. I have had three experiences of this in the last two weeks. Ironic when you think if you did the same, you would be blacklisted, especially where medical appointments are concerned, so-called DNA’s. My husband received one of these for an appointment no-one had informed him that he had. After numerous phone calls this was sorted and his good name still intact. This centralising of everything to call centres and the like, is definitely not consumer friendly. Very often these centres seem to situated in a different area of the country where the operative has no relevant or appropriate knowledge, or even worse, as I experienced recently, are based in the Philippines and other remote foreign parts.
SMILE FOR THE DAY: Star Actor: What on earth is this car doing in my dressing room? Actor’s Dresser: It’s only changing attire.
