SCHOOL FAIR: Scarecrow Festival and Primary School Fair. Please support this exciting new event. Over 40 scarecrows will suddenly materialise all over the village during this weekend (June 27 and 28). Programmes for the Scarecrows will be available from Ringmer Pet Shop, Ringmer Wine Shop and the Primary School. From 2pm to 4pm on Saturday afternoon we will be serving refreshments, running sideshows, selling all sorts of goodies, displaying more Scarecrows, and even having a small licensed bar at the primary school. ST MARY’S CHURCH: Tomorrow, Saturday, evening at 7.30pm the final fundraiser for St Mary’s cracked bell appeal. A delightful evening of music with the Sussex Police Choir. Admission free, raffle and retiring collection. Sunday services will be 8am Holy Communion, 9.45am Sung Eucharist, 6.30pm Evensong.

FLOWER CLUB: The next meeting is on Wednesday at 2pm in the village hall with a demonstration by Joyce Pannell entitled Flowers, Fun and Friendship. Visitors (£4 to include refreshments) and new members are always most welcome. There will not be a meeting in August as it is the club’s annual lunch at Barnsgate Manor.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday June 17, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: Joint 1, Valerie and Peter King, Nancy Wigginton and Roy Skan; 3, Joan Evett and John Weston. Ringmer Bridge Club meets every Wednesday in the village hall. We are a small and friendly club and welcome guests. Please ring 01273 814220 and speak to Tim Owen if you would like to come along.

BOWLS CLUB: Last week’s results: Preston v Ringmer 72-44, Nutley v Ringmer 69-44, Ringmer v Horam 55-71, Coleman’s Hatch v Ringmer 56-59, Ringmer v Hellingly 79-62, Isle of Thorns v Ringmer 51-31. We also had the club annual charity evening on Wednesday. A big thank you to everyone how came and supported the event. The weather was kind to us and we raised £500 for the Blind Veterans.

JUMBLE SALE: Nevill Juvenile Bonfire Society will be holding a jumble sale at the village hall on Saturday July 4. Doors open at 2pm.
