COFFEE MORNING: Ringmer Bowls Club invite you to their coffee morning tomorrow, Saturday, at 10am in the club house on the Village Green. There will be all the usual stalls including cakes, raffle, tombola, books etc. Entrance 50p includes coffee and biscuits. Everyone welcome.

JUMBLE SALE: Ringmer Primary PTA. are holding their annual Jumble Sale tomorrow, Saturday, 2pm to 4pm. Donations of Jumble gratefully received from 2.45pm to 4pm today, Friday, or on Saturday morning 9am to 11.30am. All of our excess jumble will be collected by the British Heart Foundation. ST MARY’S: Palm Sunday is celebrated at St Mary’s with the 10am service starting with the blessing of the palms on the green and a procession into church for a Eucharist and reading of the Passion in preparation for Holy Week. You may also wish to attend the 8am Holy Communion and in the evening a Palm Sunday Celebration in words and music when the choirs of St Mary’s and St John, Southover join together. In a last minute change, the youth group tonight (Friday) will meet at Ringmer Cafe from 6pm. The group will be joined by Diocesan Youth Worker, Dan Jenkins to explore the Easter story and to enjoy supper together. It’s a great time for young people to come together at the end of a busy week. Holy Week sees a number of additional services at St Mary’s: Thursday 7.30pm Eucharist followed by prayer vigil; noon on Good Friday three hour devotion; Holy Saturday, families are invited to make the Easter garden, followed by Hot Cross Buns and Hot Chocolate; and on Easter Day we greet the morning at 7.45am, Holy Communion and at 10am a Eucharist for Easter. Throughout the Easter weekend, come and see the work of St Mary’s Art Groups at their exhibition.
BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday March 2, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Barrie Smith and Alan Grindley; 2, Pam Brook and John Weston; 3, Alan Disney and Roy Skan. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.
HOSPICE QUIZ: Thirty teams had great fun at the annual village quiz which raised £1042 for St Peter and St James Hospice. The winners were the Jacksons, closely followed by Joyce Phillip’s team and Liz Owen’s. Many thanks to the team who made the evening’s events run so well. The 50p Book Sale in the Scout HQ at 10am on Saturday March 26 is the next fund raising event.
ART IN THE VILLAGE CHURCH: St Mary’s Art Group Exhibition runs once again this Easter bank holiday. The two art groups meet throughout the year in the church room at St Mary’s and members are putting on an exhibition of their work to attract visitors and to raise valuable funds for the church. Many pieces will be for sale at very reasonable prices. Admission is free with refreshments offered. Opening times: Good Friday, Saturday March 26 and Monday March 28, 10am to 4.30pm and on Easter Day 2pm to 4.30pm.
