FIREWORKS EVENING: The Ringmer Primary and Nursery School PTA are holding their fireworks evening tonight, Friday. Gates open at 6pm with the display at 7pm. There's a bar, barbecue, tombola and hot drinks. Tickets on the gate are priced: £5 adults, £4 children. All welcome to come and support your local school at this essential fundraiser.

COFFEE AND CAKE MORNING: Lewes, Ringmer and District Social Group for Blind and Partially Sighted People and Ringmer Village Library are holding a joint fundraising coffee and cake morning tomorrow, Saturday, in Ringmer village hall 10am to noon. Raffle, book stall, DVD stall, guess the weight of a Christmas cake. Please come along and support us.

ST MARY’S: Tomorrow, Saturday, the MU are holding a coffee morning in the church room to raise funds to provide simple sewing machines to a Mothers’ Union project in Rwanda which will be visited by Ringmer residents in the new year. Sunday services: 8am Holy Communion, 10am Eucharist and 6.30pm Lay-led Evensong. The MU meets again on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the church room to hear from Sarah Mizon about her experience of having fun with fabrics. All welcome. Boxes for your donations to the Christmas Fair are now in the Springett Chapel or take a look in the parish magazine for a full list of stall holders. It’s just three weeks away. Don’t forget to buy your Grand Draw tickets too.

COUNTRY MARKET: Please visit the Country Market in the village hall on Tuesday where you will find a selection of home made goods for sale. If you would like us to help you with your Christmas catering we have a printed order form listing a variety of items that we are willing to make. We are also able to take orders on any Tuesday if there is something that you would like specially made.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday, October 31, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Susan Louis and Suzanne Malley; 2, Frank Hibbert and Graham White; 3, Deirdre Booth and Sandra Dudley-Williams. And at its meeting on Wednesday, November 7, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Suzanne Malley and Frank Hibbert; 2, Lesley Durrant and David Warner; 3, Alan Grindley and Barrie Smith. DRAMATIC SOCIETY: There’s still time to get your tickets. The next production will be a comedy, Improbable Fiction by Alan Ayckbourn, directed by Angela Howard. November 21 to 24 in the village hall. Doors open at 7pm and curtain up at 7.45pm. There will be a licensed bar and other refreshments. LIGHTS OF LOVE: Our annual service of remembrance supporting St Peter and St James Hospice will take place in Ringmer Parish Church on Saturday December 8 at 4pm. Neil Thornicroft from Ringmer Baptist Church has kindly agreed to switch on the lights on the Christmas tree in the churchyard immediately prior to the service, and you are invited to celebrate the life of a loved one by sponsoring a light on the tree; the names of those sponsored will be displayed on the tree and will be read out during the service in church. Sponsorship forms can be obtained at weekly Wednesday Coffee Break from 10am to noon in the village hall and from the church, or from Thelma Saunders, Powderham, 2, Shepherds Way, Ringmer (tel. 01273 812822). These forms should be returned to Thelma before December 1.
