ST MARY’S: We celebrate Palm Sunday with a special visit from the donkey on the Green at 10am. Pop along for 10 minutes to wave palms and sing songs as we celebrate Jesus’ arrival at Jerusalem. The formal service with a reading of The Passion, the story of Jesus’ last days on earth, will start in church at 10.30am. There is also an 8am Holy Communion service and at 6.30pm, a Meditative Service with readings, quiet music and periods of silent prayer. Easter Flowers – If you would like to make a donation towards Easter flowers in memory of a loved one, please pop into the church. There is a notebook for you to sign on the prayer table. Or pop an envelope in for Rachel Parker. The Maundy Thursday service at 6.30pm on Thursday with symbolic washing of hands. This is a solemn week in the church where everything is stripped bare in preparation for the three hour vigil from noon on Good Friday. We shall be making the Easter Garden on Good Friday from 10.30am. Come and join us and enjoy some hot chocolate and hot cross buns! Easter Sunday at St Mary’s starts with an early welcome (8am) to the Easter morn and a simple breakfast before the 10am Service. Do come along to celebrate this special day in the Christian calendar.
COUNTRY MARKET: The Country Market takes place in the village hall from 10am to 11am on Tuesday. As well as the usual selection of home baked goods there will be a choice of Easter themed items. Please come and see what we have to offer. The market will not be open on April 23.
BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday, April 3, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Susan Louis and Suzanne Malley; 2, Joan Evett and Sandra Dudley-Williams; 3,Liz Owen and Alan Disney. ART EXHIBITION: An Art Exhibition and Sale of work by the St Mary’s Art Groups is being held in the Church Room over the Easter Weekend from Good Friday April 19 to Easter Monday April 22 from 10am to 4.30pm (Sunday 2pm to 4.30pm). There will be free refreshments and demonstrations by artists.
HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The Spring Show last Saturday was a great success with many fine and colourful exhibits. Thank you to all who contributed or came along to view in the afternoon. Details of the clubs activities are now available on our new website, rhclub.btck.co.uk. The next event in the club calendar is our coach outing to Wisely Gardens on Thursday May 16.
