Rodmell and Southease

WI: On July 21 Rodmell and Southease WI have a relaxed evening, Planning on a Plate, when members bring nibbles for the finger buffet. Ideas are considered (with a glass of wine of course) for next year’s programme.

COFFEE MORNING: On July 29 there is a coffee morning in the village hall from 11am. Time for a good chat and catch up of events in the village. Please note there will be no coffee morning in August.

ACCIDENTS: We have had yet another spate of bad accidents on the C7 but it’s very rare to see them mentioned in the local papers. People like to know how the people involved fared and also the circumstances, so the matter can be talked about at parish council meetings. More news please papers.

PHONE CALL: Much to my surprise I had a phone call from someone who works with Heir Hunters, a couple of months ago. It has led to an exciting family reunion which I will write about soon.

RAIN: The rain was very welcome for the garden, it needed it. It looks as though we are going to have a bumper crop of apples this year. Please contact me if you are interested in coming to get some for wine, pickles, jams etc.

HOLIDAYS: Have good holidays, I shall think of the poor people stranded at airports, ports and coping with all the problems which going abroad seems to bring up these days. I’m grounded these days, but it’s lovely in the garden and orchard and I did have a great day at Great Dixter recently. We have some marvellous places in the British Isles just wish I had time to see them. When I see The Times issues of places to go in our wonderful country I wonder why more people don’t explore what’s on their doorstep.,
