FLOWER CLUB: The flower club meets on Wednesday afternoon, 2pm for a 2.30pm start at the Civic Centre. The club holds floral demonstrations by top demonstrators and workshops, so whether you are an experienced flower arranger or a beginner there is something for you. You do not need to be a flower arranger to join, all you need is a love of flowers. Why not come along and get involved in a social afternoon? For more information call 01273 586191.

COUNCIL MEETING: The Planning and Highways Committee meet on Monday, 7.30pm at the Civic Centre. Members of the public are welcome to attend council and committee meetings and there is a period of 15 minutes at the beginning of the meeting for public questions. Council meetings are held in the Council Chamber at the Civic Centre and most committee meetings are held in room 5 which is upstairs. I hope that this is now ok, as I understand that some people have had difficulty in finding details of council and committee meetings in this column.

FOOTNOTES: My birthday on Friday, found myself dining at a lovely restaurant which is a favourite of mine with a couple of friends, whilst Jack spent the evening being fussed over by his dog-sitter. It is a mutual admiration society as they both adore each other. After the meal, we took a stroll along the sea front, and once again I thank heavens for having retired to this lovely part of the world. A beautiful sky, with the sun sinking into the sea and the shadowy outline of the downs behind us. As HE Bates wrote, ‘Perfick..absolutely perfeck’. Enjoy your week.
