OPEN SUNDAYS: Sussex Horse Rescue, Hempstead Farm would like to welcome new and returning visitors to our open Sunday events. You will be able to see some of our equines, read about their histories and the work we do. We provide pony rides for the children. Visit our Barn Shop and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in our tea room. Open every Sunday until the end of August. Open 11am to 4pm, adults £2, children £1, car parking free.

SUMMER CONCERT: By the Buxted Symphony Orchestra, Sunday, 7.30pm at St Margaret’s Church, Buxted Park. Works to be played. Schubert Rosamunde (excerpts) Dvorak Czech Suite and Beethoven Piano Concerto No 5 (Emperor). The soloist is Simon Ballard. The orchestra is conducted by Julian Broughton, and the leader is Lisa Wigmore. Tickets £10 in advance from Linda Davis 01435 864559 lindadavisdoc@gmail.com £12 on the door, under 18’s free.

OPEN GARDEN: Clinton Lodge Open Garden for NGS. Six acre formal and romantic garden overlooking parkland with old roses, William Pye water feature, double white and blue herbaceous borders, yew hedges, pleached lime walks, copy of C17 scented herb garden, Medieval style potager, vine and rose alle, wild flower garden. Canal garden, small knot garden, shady glade and orchard. Caroline and Georgian house (not open). The garden is open on Monday from 2pm to 5.30pm. Homemade teas from 2pm to 5.30pm. Admission £5, children free. Telephone 01825 722952. Open for charity.

NORTH HALL: Open Garden for NGS tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday from 2pm to 5.30pm. Admission £4, children free. Homemade teas from 2pm to 5.30pm. This quintessential cottage garden surrounding a C16 house (not open) is planted to please the senses. Roses tumble, clematis scramble and the dense and varied planting needs little support, a palette of soft colours and heady scent. Themed island beds and a moated terrace add to the many other cottage garden features. Wildlife and self-seeding encouraged. Home grown plants and scrumptious teas. Visits also by arrangement June and July for groups of 10 plus. Open for charity.
