RIDE AND STRIDE: Tomorrow, Saturday, this annual event is held to raise money for the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. Participants ride (bicycle or horse), walk or run between as many churches or chapels as they can manage and are sponsored by friends and family to do so. They sign in at each church, to show they have done it. Please contact Jonathan Austin 01435 830280 firstname.lastname@example.org or log on at www.sussexhistoricchurchestrust.org.uk to learn more or sign up as a rider or strider or to be in the church to greet participants.
CHURCH SERVICES: Warbleton Parish Church: 11am Morning Worship with Communion and Children’s Sunday Club. Next Saturday is our autumn churchyard clear up, so if you would like to help out please turn up with working clothes, suitable footwear, any tools you may like to bring, at 10am at the Church Rooms. A light lunch and the satisfaction of a job well done are your reward.
St John’s Bodle Street: 9.30am Family Service. St Giles, Dallington: 6.30pm Evensong. Heathfield Chapel: The services at 11am and 6.30pm will be conducted by Ray Dadswell.
HISTORY GROUP: Magnus Vol and His Railways is Ian Gledhill’s subject on Monday at 7.30pm for 8pm on Monday in the Dunn Village Hall. We tend to just think of the Volks Electric Railway, but he did produce something more exotic as well. Ian will explain all. Coffee is served before the meeting and our bookstall will be open. Our next walk is on Saturday September 19 meeting at 2pm at the Hillier Garden Centre which is on the Hailsham to Stone Cross Road B2104.
PARISH COUNCIL: The parish council resumes its meetings on Thursday at 7pm at Bodle Street village hall. The public are invited to attend and there is an early opportunity for parishioners to raise matters.
ART ON THE GREEN: This show is part of the Art Trail associated with the Hailsham Festival. Chris Liddiard is the organiser (07815 815644) and entries close tomorrow, Saturday; forms are available to local artists from The Stores, so you may just have time. The show is next weekend in the Dunn Village Hall on Saturday from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday 2pm to 5pm. Tea coffee and light lunches will be available.
This is an open exhibition showing the work of artists, photographers and craft makers living in or close to Rushlake Green. There will be a preview with drinks on Friday 6pm to 9pm. Proceeds go to the Dunn Village Hall.
