Tracey Prescott’s six-year-old nephew Ashton Haynes was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2011.

To help out, Tracey’s family set up ‘777fundraising’, a campaign to spread awareness and raise money for children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.

The 48-year-old is joining 20,000 other riders for Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100. They will tackle an ambitious route from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to The Mall in central London on August 3.

Tracey said: “Although Ashton is coming up to the end of his treatment, he is not out of the woods yet.

“With something like cancer in children, you can’t control it. All you can do is help out as much as you can.”

Even though it is known as a tough event Tracey remains positive.

She said: “I actually looked at the map of the route the other day and took a gulp, but there is not the faintest inclination we won’t do it.”
