Michael said: “I have tried wines from all over the e world but English wines are achieving awards, often beating the French at their own game.

“I am particularly interested in Sedlescombe wines as they are grown organically and, I like the First Reserve and Rubellite, they taste great.

They also use some less well known grape varieties giving excellent results. So why not make the most of what is on your doorstep?”

“I started coming to Sedlescombe in 2012 but on this particular occasion I was touring a number of vineyards in Sussex with my wife, Christine, and a family friend. We were on a two day tour when we popped into Sedlescombe.

“How did I guess the right answer? – what can I say, after drinking Sedlescombe wine, I was inspired!”

Roy Cook owner of Sedlescombe Vineyard said: “We get visitors from all around the world to our visitor attraction of Vineyard and Woodland Nature Trail with wine tasting, and many of them enter the contest, so it’s great when someone local wins the prize for this competition which we have been running annually now for over 20 years.

“This year’s prize includes some of the wines which won Sedlescombe five medals at the International Organic Wine Awards so Mr Smith certainly chose the right year to win.”
