Hastings Borough Council’s corporate plan sets out its priorities for the future, including regeneration, house-building and making the town more attractive, and the challenges to overcome.

Councillors gave the document their seal of approval at the meeting on Wednesday, February 22, where the council’s budget was also agreed.

Deputy leader Kim Forward recognised all the hard work that has gone into producing the plan and cheered its significance.

“Although the budget grabs the headlines, the corporate plan is a vitally important document, indeed the budget supports the corporate plan.

“It sets out our corporate vision, and our priorities for the next three years.

“These include economic, physical and cultural regeneration, intervention where it’s needed, creating decent homes, making Hastings an attractive and greener town, and transforming the way we work.

“Although a lot of what we do is very visible, a lot goes on behind the scenes too.

“In particular, our transformational change programme is making us far more efficient, and allows us to continue to provide vital services at reduced cost.

“A lot of work has gone into preparing the corporate plan, and I’d like to pay tribute to the dedicated, hard-working officers who prepare the plan, and then help us to realise the vision, for Hastings to be famous not just for its history, but for its achievements, a place to be admired throughout the world, to which every visitor would seek to return.”
