Volunteer project offers free training

Thanks to five years Big Lottery funding ROVTE (Rural Outreach Volunteer Training and Empowerment) will offer local people the chance to volunteer within their local community and gain a level 3 City and Guilds Award in Education and Training for free.

FSN new Project Manager Emma Turner, says this is a real opportunity for those wishing to gain the skills and introductory qualification needed to deliver short courses and workshops within their communities. “As part of the project delivery further short workshops in a variety of subjects will be developed across the rural areas, she said. “This project is a great way for local people to start 2016, and to do something different whilst gaining a qualification.

“We are really looking forward to getting out into local communities, and helping people gain the confidence and skills to share all their knowledge and passion on subjects that interest them, and at the same time learning more about different and diverse subjects ourselves.”

The first ROVTE accredited course is currently running in Battle, with courses planned for Hailsham in April, and expansion into Rye and local areas over the next 5 years.
