Volunteers needed throughout Rustington

The Voice of Progress, which provides talking newspapers of the Littlehampton Gazette and Worthing Herald, is seeking the help of volunteers.

Due to recent retirements, the organisation is looking for a sound technician to join the team.

The charity says the role would suit anyone who is interested, and comfortable with, using a computer who also has a possible interest in audio.

Full training will be given and when trained the volunteer would be working in the recording studio for about two to three hours every eight weeks.

The Voice of Progress also requires someone to join one of the copying teams.

This team prepares and copies the CDs and tapes that are sent out to listeners. Again, full training would be given and there would be a requirement to work for a couple of hours every four weeks.

Finally, if anyone is interested in joining the team of editors, which involves preparing the news stories, taken from the Gazette and Herald, there is a vacancy available.

Christmas is a time to be around family and friends, but hundreds of international students across the country are likely to spend the festivities alone on a closed-down university campus.

HOST arranges for volunteer hosts to invite a student from Christmas Eve until December 27.

The Littlehampton Academy library team is keen to hear from those who can help with supported setting reading for Year Seven students.

Library staff will be with volunteers to help them at all times and will provide training and guidance – and a cup of tea.

Those who help out at the school will be working with children from Year Seven (12-year-olds) who are working hard to improve their skills and need encouragement to practise reading aloud.

The role would suit people who enjoy working with young people.
