Volunteers needed to help Worthing's elderly population

The Neighbourhood Care Alliance (NCA) is holding a volunteer recruitment day on Tuesday, January 20, at the New Life Church in Durrington.

It is supported by several organisations in the town, including Red Cross Transport, Alzheimer's Society, WRVS Cars and Companions, Durrington Community Centre and New Life Church

Jane Haskins, NCA co-ordinator, said: "This really is a day with no age limit.

"Whether you would like to get involved in supporting older people as a volunteer or you could do with a little extra help or information yourself, then staff will be on hand to point you in the right direction."

Jane said there would also be an opportunity to discuss health and pensions issues with representatives from the Community Partnership Team on the day.

"This event will be a great way of reaching out to local residents, so they are aware of what's available to them on their doorstep '“ such as help with shopping, gardening or getting out to social activities '“ which can sustain an independent and healthy lifestyle," Jane said.
