Volunteers to repaint vandalised garage

An elderly couple in Aldwick are to have their vandalised garage repainted thanks to their local police community support officer.

PCSO Nick Baker has arranged for the work to be carried out by a small volunteer team of young people in the area.

They will use some of their spare time to clean up areas that would normally be overworked. These include fence panels and alley ways as well as affected properties, such as the domestic garage.

PCSO Baker was prompted to act after an outbreak of unsightly graffiti around Aldwick and Rose Green. He wanted to help local young people take more pride in their community by getting them involved in the clean up.

He commented: 'Aldwick is a really strong community. I'm hoping that, by getting local young people involved in this project, we will send out a strong message to other youths in the area.'

He turned to the Dulux Decorator Centre in Bognor Regis for help. Store manager Darren Cripps responded with a large donation of paint and decorating materials as part of its campaign to help local communities. He and his staff also provided plenty of advice about how best to carry out the work. 'It's great to see the young people pulling together to help their community,' added Mr Cripps.
