Volunteers - we need you!

Sussex Police is working at the heart of your neighbourhood and with your help we can make Sussex safer. East Sussex Division is currently seeking volunteers, in particular for Eastbourne, so if you have time on your hands why not join our team!

East Sussex was the first division in Sussex Police to pilot the Volunteer Scheme and currently has nearly sixty volunteers in varying roles across the division. The scheme has recently been evaluated and received such a positive response it is hoped that it will become force-wide in the near future.

George Gibbs, Volunteer Co-ordinator, East Sussex Division said, 'We aim to marry the right person to the right role, in most cases we have been able to achieve this with great success. Each Volunteer is part of a team and we have found some lasting friendships have been made'.

Anyone between the ages of 17yrs - 80yrs can become a volunteer, as long as you can spare at least two hours a week. You will receive full training, travelling expenses and the opportunity to become a member of a dynamic team dedicated to reducing crime and disorder.

George added: "Our volunteers carry out a variety of tasks from taking calls for our support teams, administration task through to liaising with partner groups and organisations. In fact, dependent on availability, the choice of task is entirely yours!"

"We currently have roles available in Eastbourne, however if you would like to work from one of the other districts (Wealden, Lewes, Hastings & Rother), opportunites may arise in the near future so still give me call and I will happily take your details."
