Vote for Les Oeufs

Local band Les Oeufs needs your support having been shortlisted for a Q magazine competition to play Glastonbury festival.

Les Oeufs is made up of musicians from Battle and Hastings who attended Bexhill College and would now like to reach out to the local community for possible votes.

In an industry overwhelmed with indie acts all fiercely fighting for the top spot, Les Oeufs step up-to-the-plate to offer something "quite unique".

As frontman Jonah Maddox explains: "We take our music but not ourselves too seriously. All we want to do is make people dance and occasionally encourage thought and empathy."

John Anthony (guitar) met Laurance Bridge (bassist) at Claverham Community College in Battle before studying A levels at Bexhill College.

In order to seek like minded musicians they moved to nearby Brighton and met David Sharpe (drummer) from Nuneaton and started playing together before meeting Jonah Maddox (Vocals, Guitar), serenading the folks of the city gigging from bar to bar.

Before long their combined creativity sparked the creation of Les Oeufs and by March 2007 they had well and truly cracked it. And what of their name? With a hint of self-confessed pretension Maddox adds: "There are lots of eggy people in Brighton, it's a nod to the eggs of the world."

Their originality both lyrically and musically is perhaps due to their diverse range of influences which spurts from genres including folk, reggae, punk and rock, branching into legendary names such as Billy Bragg, The Clash, The Beatles, Levellers, Bigwig, 88 Fingers Louie, Prodigy, The Kooks and Bloc Party. And there's more - the punk riddled foursome idols also include Joe Strummer, Simon Friend, Bob Marley, Andy Rourke, Guy Pratt, Mike Portnoy, Al Anderson and Pete Townshend to name but a few. And that's not all, social networking site MySpace has propelled the sound of Les Oeufs across the globe and the guys are now garnering fans from as far away as the U.S.A.

Les Oeufs have material for sale on iTunes, Napster, Amazon, eMusic and other online retailers and they are currently writing new material and plan to be recording again later this year.

Regarding our ambitions for the band we just want to write music and play it to people in the hope that other people might like it too. If we could write one person's favorite song that would be amazing, and if fame and fortune come as a by product I'm sure there won't be many complaints'¦
