Residents have only today to vote for Saltdean Lido to win nearly £50,000 of funding.
Simon Kirby, the Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, is urging constituents to vote for the Saltdean Lido in The People’s Millions competition that is taking place today (Monday November 24).
If the Saltdean Lido receives more votes than their competition, they will receive £49,500 worth of funding.
The People’s Millions puts two community projects up against each other, with the project receiving the most amount of votes, receiving the funding that they have applied for.
With voting happening from 9am until midnight, it is important that as many people as possible vote for the Saltdean Lido. Mr Kirby said.
If the Saltdean Lido CIC receives the £49,500 funding, they will be able to use the money to renovate the children’s paddling pool, which will be a fundamental feature of the re-developed Lido, and will bring the Lido even closer to being full re-opened, Mr Kirby said.
Mr Kirby said: “I have been a loud supporter of the Saltdean Lido CIC and their campaign to re-open the Lido, and I have been openly supportive of their applications for funding from various sources.
“This funding of nearly £50,000 will mean so much for the CIC, enabling the re-development of the paddling pool and allowing even the very youngest children to enjoy the Lido once more.
“I would like to encourage as many people as possible to vote for the Saltdean Lido on Monday, as every vote really does count. I will be voting for the Lido.”
