POLICE teams have been searching urgently for a missing elderly man from Fletching.

Eric William Horscroft, aged 73, considered vulnerable, was last seen at 11am at Fletching Church yesterday, July 25.

He was reported missing to police at 4pm after he failed to return to his wife at their home in the village.

The Wealden District Police Commander, Chief Inspector Richard Coates, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Eric’s welfare and his family are very distraught.

“Twenty officers were involved in the search for Eric yesterday evening and only stopped when it became dark.

“The search resumed this morning and officers are continuing with house to house enquiries and speaking to local people.

“If you see Eric or have any information that could help us locate him please call us immediately.”

Mr Horscroft has health problems and he is considered very vulnerable, according to Inspector Kevin Swinney who is leading the police search.

The missing man is described as 5ft 7in, of slight build, with receding grey hair, blue eyes and was wearing a green short sleeved top, green/blue trousers and trainers. He was carrying a blue holdall.
