Vuvuzela start to Moonlight Walk

Over 150 people enjoyed a beautiful balmy night when they took part in a Moonlight Walk for St Michael's Hospice.

A vuvuzela heralded the start of the walk on Saturday at around 10.30pm.

Challenge Event fundraiser Marcia Dart said: "Many walkers were in wonderful wacky outfits and everyone had glowsticks which helped create a great atmosphere along the route. Around two hours later walkers finished at St Mark's Church in Little Common with breakfast.

"The Hospice would like to thank the volunteers from St Mark's Church who kindly organised the refreshments and worked so hard in the kitchen on the night.

"Also thanks to Colemans ABC, Earls the Bakers, Loyds and Betts, Nurse Plus and Tesco who all sponsored the event and to all the marshalls, cooks and other helpers."

She added: "It was a wonderful turn out, a brilliant atmosphere and I can't wait to do it again next year. The walkers have all been asked to raise around 50 sponsorship, so the Hospice will hopefully raise a fantastic amount towards its running costs."
