Speaking at an NHS Western Sussex Hospitals Trust board meeting last Thursday, Beryl Ferrers-Guy, of Southview Road, Southwick, said there was a 10 month waiting list consisting of 200 patients for the service.

Beryl said: “The chronic pain clinic is valued by the patients – I take my hat off to the staff at Worthing because they are marvellous – but I am very concerned that it is now the poor relation of the hospital.

“The department is considered not exciting enough, it doesn’t demand money and they don’t want to know about it.”

Beryl injured her spine after falling in a horse riding incident as a child. She has had to live with the resulting pain ever since.
