Waitrose Storrington attack: Man to appear in court

A man is due to appear in court today (Friday May 1) after a woman was attacked at Waitrose in Storrington on Wednesday afternoon (April 29).

Officers and ambulance services were called to the store in Old Mill Square just before 3pm after reports a woman was doused in inflammable liquid and suffered a cut.

Police said Michael Spruhan, 52, of Windmill Copse, Storrington, has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and arson with intent/reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court later today.
