MAD MARCH QUIZ: It really was a crazy evening of trivia and ephemera at the pub last Monday evening for the Mad March Quiz in aid of Sussex Hospices. No fewer than 94 people crammed into the Star for a very cheerful evening and the sum raised totalled £515 for this very worthwhile organisation.

CONCERT: There will be an international combined concert with choirs from both Heathfield and our twin town Forges les Eaux tomorrow, Saturday, at All Saints’ Church Old Heathfield at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 per head and obtainable from Jean Barnes (01435) 863784. Tea and coffee will be served in the interval.

COUNTRY MARKET: Waldron’s Country Market will take place on Thursday April 13 at Holy Cross Priory.

EASTER FAMILY FUN DAY: Advance notice of an Easter Family Fun Day on April 15 at the Hardy Roberts Recreation Ground, Cross in Hand from 10am, organised by the Heathfield and Waldron Rugby Club. All kinds of entertainments are promised and also barbecue, cakes, crepes, Zorb football and lots more.

LYCHGATE REPAIRS: Now underway and looking good. The lychgate should be in full working order before Easter.

SERVICES: This weekend’s services on Sunday (the fifth Sunday in Lent) are both at All Saints’ at 8am for Holy Communion and at 10am for Parish Eucharist followed by refreshments. Next Sunday will be Palm Sunday and services will be at St Bartholomew’s. Advance warning that the Parochial Church Council will hold its Annual meeting on April 27 this year at All Saints’ at 7.30pm with prayers preceding it at 7pm.
