Waldron

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Our Village Christmas Fair is on TOMORROW (Saturday) from 10 am till 3.30 pm, in the middle of the village and promises to be as seasonally jolly as ever! Outdoors there'll be the Christmas market with stalls selling Christmas gifts, mulled wine, the bottle tombola, a pocket-money stall, festive goodies and a super pre-loved toy stall which promises to be hugely popular. Donations of bottles for the bottle tombola will be welcomed by Alison and Robin Bather so just bring them along on the day. There will also be a Chocolate Tombola, run by Ian Dixon, who is keen to gather together all things chocolate for his stall. The charity FSW (Family Support Work) will have a stall selling home-made goods, chutneys and jams, biscuits and cakes and there's always a run on that, so don't miss out. The pub will as usual offer a full range of food and an outdoor Barbecue in the square.

CHRISTMAS GROTTO: Santa arrives in the village at 10.30 am and then it’s all go from there on. Indoor entertainment for families will include our famous Christmas Grotto in All Saints’ Bell Tower where Santa will welcome children with a present. Book in advance for your child’s time with Santa (cost is £5 in advance or £6 on the day) by sending your cheque payable to Friends of Waldron Churches with an SAE and details of your child/children’s ages and whether they are boys or girls, to The Christmas Elf, Brambles, Dern Lane, Waldron TN21 0PN. You’ll get a letter back with your special ticket and session time. Don’t forget children are also welcome for a fun-filled visit to Santa’s Workshop in the church where they can enjoy creating with glitter, glue, colouring and clay modelling. Parents can chill out with tea, coffee, cake and biscuits while children are making stuff. Mr Pineapple Head will entertain the children from 12.15 – 1.00 pm. As one grateful parent said last year, it’s the best value for money anywhere, so don’t bother to struggle with trains to London, Brighton and Tunbridge Wells – give yourself a break, enjoy a proper village Christmas and come to Waldron!

PANTO-TIME: Watch out also for tickets to the village pantomime Waldronella which will be on sale throughout the Fair. It’s described as “a seasonal satire for grown-ups of all ages” with all the implications of double-entendres, teasing references to recent political and social events and lots of wild overacting. The performances will be on Friday and Saturday 20th and 21st January in the evening and a matinee on Saturday and tickets will be £8 per head and £7 for members of Friends of Waldron Churches. Box Office 01435 812036 or buy in person at The Star Inn at Waldron, or Gemini Greetings in Heathfield High Street or [email protected] Cheques to be made out to Friends of Waldron Churches.
