BT FIBRE OPTICS: There are temporary traffic lights still affecting Rocks Lane, The Street and Whitehouse Lane and there seems no sign of their being removed. Still at least the noise has stopped.

WHAT’S ON?: Not a lot as far as I can tell. The sun has still gone missing from our summer, and the intermittent rain does at least mean we don’t need to water the garden (much). Several croquet practices have been cancelled due to the soggy turf, which is worrying as we have our annual match against the French team from Catenay next week. However, last weekend’s cancellation did mean that we could all park ourselves in front of the transmission from Wimbledon and share in the pleasure of Andy Murray’s triumph. Go Andy.

STRING THEORY: The next visit from the group String Theory will be on Sunday July 31 at the Star at lunchtime.
