SPRING CLEANING: Tomorrow, Saturday’s, annual Spring Clean for our two churches is open to everyone with a pair of rubber gloves and a duster. It is happening between 9.30am and noon at St Bart’s and 9am to 11.30am at All Saints’ to help give the buildings a good clean, reaching the parts that can’t usually be reached during the regular fortnightly cleaning. Your efforts will be rewarded by grateful thanks all round as well as tea, coffee and cake or biscuits. And in case you wonder why the times are different for the two churches, All Saints’ cleaners are stopping at 11.30am to make way for a baptism.

RECORD-BREAKER: ‘All roads lead to Waldron’ said my knowledgeable taxi-driver on the way home from Lewes. ‘It’s got more signposts than any other village in the UK’, he added. ‘And I was told that by Bob Hoskins, the actor who lived around here somewhere, so it must be right’. Well I’ve lived in Waldron for 38 years and the legend I heard was that there are 83 signposts to Waldron, but I can’t claim to know it for certain. I guess it was something to do with its importance in the iron industry centuries ago. Now there’s a thought. It could be fun to identify all the signposts and see if the legendary 83 still exist, or if it’s just one of those village myths which have become inflated as the story was passed from villager to villager over the years.

SERVICES: This Sunday’s morning services are at St Bartholomew’s, at 8am for Holy Communion and at 10am for Parish Eucharist with a Baptism. Coffee and cake to follow. Evening Prayer is now at the summer time of 6pm and will be at All Saints’ led by Christo Corfield who will also preach.

PAROCHIAL MEETING: The Annual Parochial Church meeting will be held at All Saints’ on Thursday April 21 at 7.30pm and will be preceded by Evening Prayer at 7pm. This gives everyone an opportunity to hear the progress of all the plans for the re-ordering of the two churches and also the annual update of the work undertaken within the parish by the Ministry team and the various volunteers.
