IT ends up as half an hour of TV, but residents in a Worthing street say the makeover of one house has already taken two weeks.

Some residents in Stanley Road say they are upset at constant bashing and banging which started when crew and top designers Diarmuid Gavin and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen started work on a house in the street belonging to Margaret and Adam Pescott for the programme Home Front.

One resident said: I thought shows like this were only meant to take a couple of days transforming a house, but they have been here for at least two weeks now. The noise is horrendous.

Neighbours also raised concern over the decision to knock down an old flint forge building in the back garden of the property.

James Appleton, development control manager for Worthing Borough Council, said: The BBC contacted us in advance to let us know their plans and building control officers were satisfied planning permission was not needed.
