It's been a long wait for the World Cup but now it's here and the advice is not to get so sozzled you miss out on all the fun.

Watch, Enjoy, Remember is the campaign just launched to encourage football fans to pace themselves and not over-do their own personal celebrations as the World Cup goals come thick and fast.

"We have waited four years for the World Cup," said Inspector Viv Johnson who is in charge of licensing for East Sussex.

"We want everyone to watch it, enjoy it and remember it. Where were you when Rooney scored the winning goal?

"We are saying do it, go for it, but make sure you remember it.

"Make sure you can tell your grandchildren about it in years to come."

The campaign includes posters in pubs and beermats with the message Watch, Enjoy, Remember, and it is all about getting the most out of the World Cup experience according to Inspector Johnson who says rumours

Sussex Police are clamping down on supporters wearing patriotic shirts are not true.

"It is time people should be proud, they should be wearing their World Cup shirt, and should be enjoying it.

"But it's all about talking about it next day. Alternate drinks and make sure you are drinking water as well '“ pace yourself.

"Make sure you get to see and enjoy and remember this for generations."
