Watch out, voles are about
Four children from Slindon have been seen on television vole watching. The quartet '“ Finley Gooding-Davies (5), Paris Paget (7), Glen Jackson (6) and Rhian Wickens (7), pictured '“ were filmed for the BBC's CBeebies Springwatch programme.
They spent a beautiful day at the Arundel Wetland Centre as nature detectives. Their task was to find and film water voles.
School headteacher Jane Walters said: 'During the day, the children learnt about the life and habitat of the water vole and saw considerable water vole activity '“ swimming, eating and cutting down reeds.
'As the day warmed up, water vole came crawling out of the banks until the children lost count of the number they saw.'
The sequence was screened last monthaccompanied by a voice-over from Rhian.
