Wave Leisure sign up for special needs and disabilities scheme

Children and young people with disabilities and special needs will benefit from special rates at Wave Leisure sites across Lewes district.

The company is the latest leisure provider to sign up to East Sussex County Council’s i-go scheme which offers deals to i-go card holders.

Leisure partners also offer them free access to their carers and help with their day.

All venues in the i-go scheme have a dedicated ‘i-go champion’ to make the visit more enjoyable.

i-go cardholders can organise free family days out by consulting the i-go guide or calling 0345 60 80 192.

The scheme is run by the county council in partnership with Rockinghorse Children’s Charity and received funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

Lead member for children and families at East Sussex County Council Bob Tidy said: “This is a marvellous scheme that enables young people with special needs to enjoy the same leisure facilities we all take for granted.

“It’s great to see so many leisure partners have already signed up to i-go and we look forward to seeing many more joining the scheme and offering young people in East Sussex all the help and support they need.”

Wave Leisure managing director Peter Crowley said: “Wave Leisure are delighted to be a partner in the i-go scheme.

“We hope that by seeing the logo, young people and their families are encouraged to try out new activities or ask us the questions they need answered in order to participate.”
