Wayne lights up his world again for St Wilfrid’s Hospice

The annual big switch on at No.6 Exton Road, Chichester, took place on Saturday evening.

Wayne Thair lights up his house in true festive fashion each year and has raised thousands for St Wilfrid’s Hospice over the years.

His wife Christine Thair said: “It’s Wayne’s baby, he does it every year and it’s always for St Wilfrid’s.

“This must be the sixth or seventh year of doing it.

“The main reason is because it’s a local hospice and we’ve known a lot of people who’ve needed them.

“On average we raise between £300 and £400, that sometimes goes up or down.

“There’s a money spinner on the fence and people come and donate.”

Father Christmas was again on hand to help turn on the lights, along with children from next-door, where lights have also gone up.

The event had to be slightly delayed because the bad recent weather made putting the lights up difficult.

“We get loads of people taking photos and taxis bring some of the disabled children this way so they can see it,” Christine said.

“Yes our electricity bills are high, but we don’t worry about that, the costs doesn’t matter.”
