This month Wealden is taking part in National Association of British Market Authorities’ ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign.

More than 700 markets across the UK are taking part in the campaign, which started in 2012 to help boost the country’s high streets amid fears of their decline.

The aim is to raise the profile of local markets.

Wealden believes its markets are among the best in the country.

To attract both new customers and stallholders, there will be free promotional goods at local markets during May.

These will include re-useable shopping bags and badges to promote the campaign.

There’s a farmers’ market for every Saturday of the month in Wealden.

Thes will be at Uckfield on May 3; Hailsham on May 10; Heathfield on May 17 and Crowborough on May 24.

There will also be Hailsham street market.

Village markets will be held at Chelwood Gate, Chiddingly, East Dean, Forest Row, Framfield, Stone Cross, Wadhurst, Pevensey Bay and Waldron.

Wealden’s Community Chef, Olly Dawson, will be staging a cookery demonstrations at all markets throughout the summer, making the best use of seasonal local market produce.

And there will be plenty of opportunity to taste some of the delicious recipes he cooks.
