Wearing jumpers tohelp educate people

They even enjoyed a surprise visit from Father Christmas himself.

The colourful, festive occasion was part of Pestalozzi’s appeal to give the gift of an education for Christmas.

Pestalozzi Fundraising Officer, James Bacon, said:“There was such a festive feel to the day. It’s always great to keep warm and have fun at the same time.

“We are also excited to launch our #HeadHeartAndHands Christmas appeal which is to give the gift on an education for Christmas.

“If you would like to get involved and be part of our story, it’s really simple to do. All you need to do is take a photo of your head, heart and hands, post it on Facebook and text ‘PIVT11 £2’ to 70070. Pestalozzi is a UK-based charity, which runs a multi-national village at Sedlescombe and has more than 50 years’ experience of offering life-changing opportunities to young people from disadvantaged communities around the world.

Pestalozzi awards scholarships to exceptional 16-19 year olds who are academically gifted but have limited educational prospects in their home countries.

These young people have all demonstrated their enthusiasm for helping to make a difference in their communities. Pestalozzi students live for two years in a multi-cultural, multi-faith community where they welcome difference and embrace diversity. They study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma and undertake a broad range of extra-curricular activities, gaining an holistic education which allows them to pursue their dreams.

Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, the Swiss social reformer and educator the centre takes its name from, believed that education should develop the powers of ‘Head’, ‘Heart’ and ‘Hands’.
