Video: 2014 set to start with heavy rain and winds

Today’s heavy showers are just a foretaste of a day of rain.

In fact, the Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning for most of tomorrow.

Added to the miserable weather will be gusting winds of up to 50mph.

With the ground already saturated, many roads are likely to have surface water, making driving conditions difficult.

At the moment, the forecast for Thursday (January 2) is for a bright sunny day.

However, there is another yellow warning of heavy rain for Friday, accompanied by more gusting winds.
