Said a spokesman: The aim is to weave a web of memories which in turn conjure further associations in the present, flinging up a net in which to catch the castle in the now.

A cross-section of age groups attended workshops, some at the castle, during August.

Memories of the castle were recounted verbally, in writing and through questionnaires, before being transferred into white translucent streamers.

Participants used their own handwriting styles or referred to calligraphic types demonstrated in scripts from the Lewes Archives dating back over 10 centuries to when the castle was built.
