Weekend spectaculars pull in bumper crowds

WOW! BEXHILL'S Big Weekend was a real record breaker.

Thousands lined the streets for the biggest Carnival procession for years.

More than 3,000 youngsters enjoyed the Party in the Park.

And hundreds were drawn over three nights to Panoramic, the De La Warr Pavilion's open air jazz and light festival.

Newcomers saw Bexhill at its best as it basked in the hottest weekend of an indifferent Summer.

A combination of the weather and the town's two big attractions made the weekend party-time.

Community groups responding to the call to support Bexhill Carnival brought it bouncing back to life.

Friday's Carnival Party in the Park pop concert was a huge success with the crowds far exceeding the organisers' hopes.

Youngsters were drawn to the Polegrove by bands such as Boysterous and Storm.

Saturday's Carnival procession saw double the number of floats entered last year.

Record crowds along the route from Sidley to Polegrove ensured that the Friends of the 73a Centre, Bexhill Youth and Community Centre, Glyne Gap School and Hastings and Rother Family Friends will share more than 2,400.

The bumper street collection is expected to be well over 1,000 up on last year's total.
