Weekend traffic chaos causes long delays

CHAOS reigned on wet West Sussex roads over the weekend as a series of incidents caused major delays.

An oil spill and two accidents caused the closure of the A24, the A264 and the B2237 on Saturday morning.

Long queues formed at Crawley Road, Guildford Road, Harwood Road and the Southwater bypass.

On social networking sites, many drivers said it had taken them over an hour to drive just a few miles, with one describing the situation as ‘absolute carnage’.
