THE Met Office has issued a weather warning that heavy rain and west or southwesterly gales are expected across Sussex today (Friday June 8) and this weekend.
West or southwesterly gales are likely to affect many parts of the southern half of England during Friday.
Some damage to trees is likely and disruption to travel and outdoor activities could also occur.
The gales are also likely to be accompanied by some heavy rain.
Winds should gradually ease from the southwest after about midday.
Sussex Police advise extra care should be taken when driving because of large amounts of surface spray on roads and fallen trees.
