Welcome to the People's Gallery

It's an opportunity for local artists to show their work and a way of using empty space '“ meet the people's gallery.

The vacant windows of what used to be the Redstack cinema are now home to colour and expression thanks to some creative thinking by Jackie Bialeska.

She commented: "We are opening this gallery at the cinema in Western Road so that the artists of Bexhill or Rother will have a permanent place to exhibit their work free of charge.

"Any artist, amateur, professional or student, aged 15 or over, may apply at the gallery Sundays March 21 or 28 from 12.30-1.30pm. All are welcome.

"I would like to thank Maltby's and Derek Stevens, the council chief executive, for their help in setting up this project.

"This will not be a shop but an exhibition space. As local artists appear to be unwelcome to exhibit at the DLWP unless they are under 20 this will on the popular and busy Western Road give shoppers and visitors an opportunity to see local artists' work once again.

"Any type of artwork and any level of ability will be considered."
